Pan American Cup 2025

Team Canada is Ready!

The Pan American Cup 2025 will be held in Aguas Calientes, Mexico, from February 13 – 16. This prestigious Mixed Team Continental event, held every two years, will determine the champion who secures a coveted spot at the TotalEnergies BWF Sudirman Cup Finals 2025, set to take place in China from April 27 – May 4.

Team Canada is poised to compete with a talented roster of 14 athletes, each determined to showcase their skills and represent the nation proudly. The players selected for the event are: Jacqueline Cheung, Catherine Choi, Jackie Dent, Crystal Lai, Jonathan Lai, Victor Lai, Kevin Lee, Ty Lindeman, Josephine Wu, Eliana Zhang, Wendy Zhang, and the Olympians: Michelle Li, Nyl Yakura, and Brian Yang.

“Pan Am Team Cup is one of the highlights on the 2025 calendar. We have been representing Canada at this event for several years, but this may be one of our most challenging competitions. Both the USA and Brazil will be formidable opponents with strong entries in all disciplines,” said Mike Butler, ChPC, National Team Head Coach. “We’ve selected our best for this event. It will be interesting to see how Josephine Wu performs, as she’s just come back from knee surgery. It’s fantastic to have her back. Team events bring out something extra in our athletes. While badminton is typically an individual sport, the team atmosphere adds a unique and exciting dimension.”

At the Pan American Cup, Team Canada will face fierce competition from athletes across the Americas, including Brazil, Costa Rica, Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru, and the United States.

The Canadian coaching staff for the event includes:

  • Mike Butler, ChPC, National Team Head Coach
  • Kevin Cao, Assistant Coach
  • Lynsie Fleming, Physiotherapist

Team Canada is excited to take on this challenge and compete on the continental stage, as they aim for victory and look ahead to representing the country at the Sudirman Cup Finals 2025.
