Team Canada Wins Gold at the XXlll Pan Am Mixed Team Championships

Canada wins gold for the 11th consective time at the XXlll Pan Am Championships in Lima, Peru
From February 14-17th 2019, Team Canada competed in the XXlll Pan American Mixed Team Championships in Lima, Peru. Nine Canadian athletes were set to take on the best countires from accross the Americas, and were determined to defend their Mixed Team Championship title!
Starting the competition was Canada vs. Columbia in the group stage, followed by Canada vs. Peru. Through the first two days of competition Canada was flawless, without dropping a match to either team - defeating both Columbia and Peru (5-0). Entering the elimination stage, Canada took on Cuba in the Semi-Final and would win (3-0); only to play North American rival USA.
In the final, Team Canada would continue their week of dominant perforamances by winning (3-0) against the United States! This would mark the 11th consective gold medal for Canada at the Pan Am Mixed Team Championships!
"We are incredibly proud of our athletes and their performance this week at the Championships" said Mike Butler, National Team Head Coach. "Capturing the 11th consectuive gold medal, while only dropping 5 games all week is an outstanding feat and extremely promising for our athletes heading into Tokyo."
