Badminton Canada has a new BWF Certified Umpire– Gérald Arseneault

Badminton Canada is pleased to inform our members that the BWF Events Committee on 26 May 2014 confirmed Gérald Arseneault as a BWF Certified Umpire. 

 

Gérald has been a physical education teacher since 1990 and currently teaches elementary school in Quispamsis NB. Although he never played badminton at a high level but has always enjoy the game since he started playing in middle school. In 1985, Gérald was introduced to the officiating part of badminton while attending the Université de Moncton and has remained an active official with Badminton Canada ever since.

“We are so pleased that Gérald has achieved this level of recognition for his hard work” stated Peter Golding (President of Badminton Canada) “there are only about fifty umpires of at this level in the world and we thank him for his dedication to this important aspect of our sport.”

“Having reached this level of Umpiring is a great feeling and I look forward to officiating great players on the international stage” stated Gérald “however the opportunity bringing that experience back to Canada to help other Canadian umpires and players improve is an even greater reward.”

Gérald is originally from Kedgwick NB, but now resides in Quispamsis NB.
